Cruz, Top Dem Spar Over Hagel

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Armed Services Committee Chair Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) had a stringent exchange during the committee hearing today discussing the confirmation of Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel. Cruz argued that Hagel had failed to provide the committee accurate information and cited precedent of previous nominees submitting similar information. Levin stated that Hagel had fulfilled the requirements that are recorded in statute and that to hold up his nomination for extra information was unjustified.
