Reporter To WH: How Can Obama 'Say With Straight Face' To Trust Gov't?

During the White House daily press briefing on Wednesday, a reporter challeneged Spokesman Jay Carney on the President’s ability to sell the American people on trusting government. The reporter brought up that President Obama has in the past mocked those who have a distrust for the government and has repeatedly said “the government is us.” The reporter asked that, “given the range of government, at least questionable if not bad behavior we’re looking at … how does the President say with a straight face, ‘You Americans should trust your government?'” Carney replied by saying that the President can “only say” that “if” wrongdoing is discovered “it needs to be corrected and people need to be held accountable.”
