Bloody Road Rage Fight on LA's 405 Freeway

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — An investigation was underway on Thursday into a vicious brawl between two men on the 405 Freeway that was caught on video. The bloody confrontation took place just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday near the Beach Boulevard off-ramp in Huntington Beach, according to the California Highway Patrol. Two men fought in the middle of rush hour traffic on the 405 Freeway. (credit: YouTube) The incident involved Richard Brun, a celebrity body guard, and a truck driver, identified as 40-year-old Denny Saavedra. The fight stemmed from a road-rage incident roughly 10 miles away, police said. “A driver of a semi-truck tractor threw an unknown object at his vehicle,” said Officer Jay Payton, of the CHP. Brun told police that he got out of his car after the truck driver allegedly waved a lead pipe and threatened him. “The confrontation did begin as a verbal confrontation,” Payton said. “Unfortunately, it did escalate to a physical confrontation.” Saavedra allegedly hit Brun with that metal pipe, and Brun fought back, police said. Several minutes of the fight were captured by a witness on cell phone video, which was posted to YouTube. The two men exchanged punches, and at one point, the video shows Brun pinning down Saavedra. In the end, police arrested Saavedra and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held on $25,000 bail. Brun suffered cuts and bruises, but was otherwise okay, authorities said. The video was turned over to the CHP, which was investigating the incident.
