Kerry: Rebel Weapons Would Not Have Gone To Islamists If U.S. Acted Sooner

Secretary John Kerry invoked Congress’ delay in providing aid to the Syria rebels when he was asked about reports that Al Qaeda elements, not the “moderate” elements of the Syrian forces were receiving the bulk of the weapons on Tuesday. Kerry told the Google+ hangout that it’s true that much of the humanitarian and other aid promised to the Syrian opposition was slow to arrive in the region and that some promised aid has yet to arrive. But Kerry insisted that aid has been making its way to the opposition that that it just took a while to “ramp up,” especially with Congress’ inaction.
