Mother Jones Scribe Criticizes Reid's 'McCarthyite Rhetoric' Used Against Koch Bros

Daniel Schulman, a writer for the left-leaning Mother Jones magazine and author of a new book about the Koch brothers, “Sons of Wichita: How the Koch Brothers Became America’s Most Powerful and Private Dynasty,” stated that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) crusade against the Koch brothers, especially his declaration that they were “un-American,” was “absurd” and “almost McCarthyite rhetoric” in an interview with Terry Gross aired on NPR’s “Fresh Air” earlier this week.

Schulman added that the Democratic “fundraising strategy” of bashing the Kochs had “gone overboard” and expressed doubt that it would be a successful strategy because it results in Democrats having “senate candidates who are, in essence, running against the Koch brothers,” a strategy that he said was “dicey.”
