MSNBC Panel Conclusion: 'Friend Zone' Is Violent

Being considered to be in the “friend zoned,” has a potential for violence according to PolicyMic’s Elizabeth Plank and MSNBC’s Joy Reid.

During a discussion on the recent mass killing in Isla Vista, CA on MSNBC’s “The Reid Report,” Plank said that “this kind of violence” is “seen even in the way that we talk about women.” One of the examples of the violent ways people talk about women is the way society refers to “women who put men in the friend zone,” and that using “friend zone” is “attacking women’s right to say ‘no,'” a point that Reid seemed to agree with.
