Television host and actor LeVar Burton celebrated his Kickstarter campaign to bring an online version of the former TV show “Reading Rainbow” to needy schools raising $1 million on the first day.
Burton said that the money is “going to allow us to do a lot of good,” and that the donations were “literally changing the world one children’s book at a time.” WILX reports that the campaign raised $1.8 million on day one, and that contributors can win prizes, including a chance to wear the visor Burton wore when he played Data on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
