Thursday at State Department daily briefing, Associated Press reporter Matt Lee grilled spokesperson Jen Psaki about President Barack Obama’s decision to completely withdraw troops from Iraq.
As an al-Qaeda splinter group, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), are taking control of several northern regions in Iraq and reportedly advancing towards Baghdad, Psaki replied, “Obviously the withdrawal from Iraq in 2011 was not a mistake,” and she pointed to Syria where “there were factors we could not have predicted five years ago.”
