Dem Rep on Cheney: 'How Dare He Come And Raise His Ugly Head'

Thursday on MSNBC’s “News Nation” with host Tamron Hall, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) had to apologize for his emotion while going after former Vice President Dick Cheney for his Wall Street Journal op-ed critical of President Barack Obama’s handling of the Iraq crisis.

Meeks was answering Hall’s question about possible consequences if Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki refused to meet American demands in Iraq when he exploded into a rant about “an individual who used to be the vice president of the United States.” He blamed Cheney for the 4,500 American lives lost in Iraq and said, “How dare he come and even raise his ugly head at this time.” Meeks then said he was sorry but he was “upset about that’

In the op-ed that is getting heavy push back from the left Cheney wrote “Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many,” adding “Instead, he abandoned Iraq and we are watching American defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.”
