Cruz: 'Threats We're Facing in this Country Are Unprecedented'

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. He address the Internal Revenue Service invasive questioning conservative groups and ObamaCare birth control mandates.

“The idea that our federal government is going after our religious liberty now is just astonishing and heartbreaking,” Cruz said. “No time in our nation’s history have we seen threats like these to our religious liberty.”

Cruz blasted President Barack Obama’s foreign policy failures: “We see our foreign policy collapsing every week as the world is getting more and more dangerous.”

He cited Meriam Yahya Ibrahim Ishag, a Christian woman who was sentenced to death in Sudan for refusing to denounce her faith. Cruz argued, “Christians are being persecuted in stunning numbers … we need the United States to say in no uncertain terms, ‘Send Meriam home.”
