Rand Paul: We Are Creating a Jihadist Wonderland In Iraq

Sunday on CNN’s “State of The Union,”  Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)  said the “Middle East is in chaos”  because we have armed radical Islamist in Syria. Paul called Iraq “a Jihadist wonderland” blaming it on “too little involvement.”

Paul laid the blame squarely on President Barack Obama’s foreign policy.

“We have a vacuum,” Paul said. “I think one of the reasons why ISIS has been emboldened is because we’ve been arming their allies. We have been allied with ISIS in Syria. They have had a safe haven because we have been arming the rebels to keep Assad away from them.”

In 2013, Obama used the Arms Export Control Act that enables him to provide assistance to outlawed groups to arm the Syrian rebels who work with the Qaeda affiliate ISIS, in their efforts to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
