Associated Press White House correspondent Julie Pace stated that the president has been moving too slowly and not taking enough action to stem the tide of illegal immigrants at the southern border.
In a discussion on Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” she said “we talk about 52,000 children that have shown up at the border. That’s not 52,000 children that have shown up in the last few weeks. This has been happening for several months,” and that the White House should have done more in this time period.
Pace added that the president’s visit to Texas would “a very complicated situation” for President Obama with many “potentially awkward optics” as he attempted to avoid irritating immigration activists while still looking tough on border security.
