Van Susteren Suggests Obama Has Given Up on Democracy

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos,” Fox News Channel “On the Record” host Greta Van Susteren criticized the possibility that reportedly President Barack Obama will use his executive power to grant amnesty to up to 6 million illegally immigrants currently residing inside the United States.

Van Susteren said, “He’s probably going to do this, but he real problem is we have an absence of leadership. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid should be back in Washington. The president should call him back. The house should the back in Washington. They should resolve this. They all go running to the cameras and say this is a humanitarian crisis, yet what do they do? They all get out of town. I do my job when there’s a humanitarian crisis. where are they?”

“This is a discussion that the president should be having with Speaker Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and it’s not happening,” she continued. “They’re on vacation. This is their job … I don’t see any effort. I see a lot of finger-pointing. people going microphones and talking, I don’t see them sitting down.”

When she received pushback from the panel and host George Stephanopoulos asking what one more phone call would do, a frustrated Van Susteren said “So you give up on democracy?  Leadership is tough. Being president is tough. But you have at least got to keep trying.”
