WH: When Obama Said He Can't Change Law Alone, He Meant He Can't Change Them Enough

Monday at the White House daily press briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest tried to make the argument to ABC’s Jon Karl and CBS’s Major Garrett that the several times President Barack Obama has publicly said he cannot act alone with executive action on immigration, he was only saying he can not fix the entire system alone because Earnest said, “Congress has greater capacity to solve this problem then the president does thorough executive action.”

Earnest continued to argue the president never promised to not grant far-reaching amnesty. But instead he was simply saying he can not pass the entire immigration reform package. Earnest said what the president has said is, “I can’t do what congress is debating doing right now.”

“Congress can do more to address this problem then the president can,” Earnest added.
