Columnist and former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan said that former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) is mulling the possibility of running for president in 2016.
On Tuesday’s “Laura Ingraham Show,” he stated Romney is “obviously looking at it [running for president] and considering it.” And “I think he ought to do it…if that’s the way he believes, but that’s on a personal level, you don’t want to end your life and say ‘I should have done this.’”
Buchanan added that even though Romney would be a “front-runner for the nomination, along with several others,” he would have a “rough time.”
“These almost always come to down to one candidate, if you will, from the populist right, the outside candidate, And one from the quasi-establishment. And the establishment of course, would be Romney, and [Gov.] Chris Christie (R-NJ), and Jeb Bush, and the outside guys are [Sens.] Rand Paul (R-KY) and Ted Cruz (R-TX)…and I don’t know about [Sen.] Marco Rubio (R-FL), maybe he’s thinking of that again,” he concluded.
