Thursday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Lisa Monaco, President Barack Obama’s top adviser on Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, was slammed by Mitchell for the administration’s incoherent rhetoric on ISIS.
Mitchell, after playing a clip of Vice President Joe Biden declaring Wednesday that America would follow ISIS “to the gates of Hell until they are brought to justice,” asked Monaco, “How do you follow ISIL to the gates of Hell if we’re not yet prepared to follow them to their headquarters in Syria?”
Monaco replied by explaining Biden was simply tapping into a national outrage saying, “Well, Andrea, what you saw from Vice President Biden is a shared sentiment. The brutality that we have seen from ISIL. Our heart goes out to the Foley and Sotloff families who, we’ve lost two brave Americans, two brave journalists who were there reporting on horrible situation in Iraq and Syria. What you saw reflected in the vice president’s comments and in the president’s comments is a determination to disrupt, degrade, and ultimately to defeat ISIL.”
