Holder Launches Civil Rights Investigation of Ferguson Police

Thursday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced a “federal civil rights investigation” into not only the Ferguson, MO police department’s response to the two weeks of civil unrest following officer Darren Wilson’s August 9, shooting of Michael Brown, but also the probe will look into the actions of the police department’s potential civil right violations over several years.

The Attorney General said after going to Missouri, meeting with community leaders and looking into their complaints the investigation will center on the communities mistrust of the police force. Holder said the focus will be on if the police force has a “pattern practices that violate the Constitution.”
