Andrea Mitchell Criticizes Obama on Attempt to Avoid Fighting ISIS in Syria: 'Will This Strategy Work?'

Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press,” Andrea Mitchell criticized President Barack Obama’s attempt to avoid having to follow ISIS into Syria where they began and would no doubt retreat to if the United States is successful in degrading their capabilities in Iraq.

Mitchell said, “You can’t totally roll back what happened for three years. The Saudis and others in the region are very upset, angry, they don’t trust this president to go after Assad because he didn’t. He is basically saying he’s outlining a war against ISIS in Iraq, based on an Iraqi army that has yet to be approved effective at all. So if you’re only going to fight them in Iraq, degrade them in Iraq then worry about Syria, with the Syrian army we let down for three years. We have not armed them to their needs. How does that work?”

“He’s got the strategy. The question now will be, will it work?” she added.
