Tuesday in announcing his war on Ebola, President Barack Obama said he is sending U.S. military to West Africa to help fight the epidemic because when there are global crisis “our armed services are better” at solving them “than any organization on earth.”
Obama said while the United States is not in immediate threat of an outbreak the “profound’ threat to American is if entire West African nations collapse economically and politically creating more chaotic regions in the world.
“Today I’m announcing a major increase in our response. At the request of the Liberian government we’re going to establish a military command center in Liberia to support civilian every times across the region, similar to our response after the Haiti earthquake,” he said.
“Our forces are going to bring their expertise and command and control and logistics and engineering, and our Department of Defense is better at that, our Armed Services are better at that, than any organization on earth.”
