Flashback: '06 Hastert Asked If He Will Resign as Leader if Party Doesn't Do Well in Midterms

On October 5, 2006, then-Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) was asked by the press if he would step down from his leadership role if his party did not do well in the upcoming midterm election.

Today when House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was asked if she would step down as leader because her party didn’t do well in the midterm elections she charged the question was sexist and insisted no man has would be asked that.
