Friday on Newsmax TV’s “MidPoint,” Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ) said that he agreed with Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer, which is that President Barack Obama’s proposed executive order amnesty would be an impeachable offense, but he also agrees with Mr. Krauthammer point that it would be folly to pursue because 60 Senators are required to convict and no Democrat senator “ever ever,” is going to vote to throw out of office the first Democratic Party president since Bill Clinton and the first African-American president.
Salmon recalled voting for the impeachment of President Bill Clinton only to see it die in the Senate and have the public turn on republicans once there was no conviction saying, “The prize is not impeachment, it’s is actually removing the person from office and I don’t see any way that any Democrat would ever, ever vote to convict him.”
“It takes 60 votes on the Senate side to convict him and we have 54. I don’t believe there is any democrat that would vote to convict this president,” he added.
