Mo State Sen: Unidentified Cops Hogtied and Called My Constituents Monkeys

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Reid Report,” Missouri State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadali (D) claimed since Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson fatally shot Michael Brown, many of her constituents who were protesting have been “hog-tied and kicked when they were unconscious” and “called monkeys and animals.”

Chappelle-Nadali said, “This is a great opportunity to educate my constituents on how we develop law. Many of the things we have experienced in the last 109 days are really troubling. For example, being hog-tied. I had constituents who were hog-tied and kicked when they were unconscious. I want to make sure through our legislation that not only can officers not do that thing, but I want to make sure that they are not name-calling people as well. Many of my constituents were called monkeys and animals. That should not be tolerated. Also in my legislation, we are going to enforce that every single officer wear his or her name badge when we’re in a situation like this. So this is a wonderful opportunity to educate the community, but I want them to be a part of the process because this is our democracy. And our democracy can only be strong if we’re working together.”
