ESPN: Texas Alumni Need to ‘Get Behind’ Strong, Some Doubt For ‘Wrong Reasons’

ESPN analysts Brian Griese and Dave Pasch argued that University of Texas alumni should “get behind” coach Charlie Strong and that some were doubting him for “the wrong reasons” during their coverage of the Texas Bowl on Monday.

Griese said that “the alumni, Dave, have to buy into it. There were a lot of skeptics out there from [the] alumni…and they gotta get behind him,” to which Pasch added “there were some alumni that were skeptical for what you could say are the right reasons, and there are some that were for definitely the wrong reasons, and I think Charlie Strong has proven that he can coach,” along with a prediction that the Longhorns would get better once they figured out their quarterback situation.

Texas ended up losing 31-7 to Arkansas, managing only 59 total yards of offense, just 9 yards ahead of the school’s worst offense performance, a 50 yard day back in 1943.
