Former Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) said that the US’ allies don’t believe the US will be “putting into place the type of policies and strategy to keep the Middle East safe” on Friday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show.”
“Anyone who thinks that we’re winning the war [on terror] — I mean, the President of the United States gets up and says that we’ve got the terrorists on the run, actually, he doesn’t refer to them as terrorists, he says we’ve got al Qaeda on the run. They’re not. Everybody knows that” he stated.
Perry continued, “we’ve got to get back to having a strategy…where our allies know that the United States is going to be standing there with you and that our enemies, when you cross a red line, there is a consequence. And that’s not the case today, Hugh. Israel’s a great example of it. We’ve got other allies in that part of the world, I will suggest to you Jordan doesn’t particularly think that the United States is — Saudi Arabia doesn’t necessarily think that the United States is going to be putting into place the type of policies and strategy to keep the Middle East safe.”
Perry further criticized the US for negotiating with Iran and its response to Russia. Regarding Russia, Perry suggested the US should have flooded the European market with liquid natural gas to undercut Russia.
