Boehlert: There Was ‘Massive Misogyny’ in Media in 2008

Media Matters Senior Fellow Eric Boehlert argued that there was “massive misogyny within the mainstream media” during a discussion of Hillary Clinton on Saturday’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” on MSNBC.

Mother Jones DC Editor David Corn remarked “one reason they lost in 2008 was, I think, because of the approach they took, not just towards the media, but towards the whole way — the fight against Barack Obama. And they went after him in a way that many people in the press thought was unfair. I was on those calls every day, and they were saying things about Barack Obama, and the rest of the press were saying ‘we don’t have a dog in the fight, but this is patently silly what you’re saying'” during a larger critique of the Clinton press shop.

Boehlert responded, “2008, that’s a totally separate category, there was massive misogyny within the mainstream media, that was a whole separate thing” before expressing his disagreement with the negative coverage of Clinton’s book tour over the summer.
