Yolanda Pierce, Associate Professor of African American Religion and Literature, and Director of the Center for Black Church Studies at Princeton Theological Seminary (which is not affiliated with Princeton University) said that Officer Darren Wilson should be fired on Saturday’s “Melissa Harris-Perry” on MSNBC.
Pierce was asked about the resignation or firing of Ferguson officials were found to have sent racist e-mails by a Justice Department investigation, she stated “it’s not only not enough, it’s actually almost ludicrous. So, we have an unarmed teenage boy who is dead, and the person responsible for his death has not, in fact, faced any consequences. Someone forwards an e-mail, and he or she, he’s fired. Now, all of these folks should be fired, but frankly, the entire department needs to be dismantled.”
