Cruz: Kerry ‘Diminishing and Disregarding’ Senate Treaty Authority

Thursday on the “David Webb Show” on Sirius-XM Radio, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Secretary of State John Kerry’s “wrong-headed” comments “diminishing and disregarding the Senate treaty authority with regards to Iran” shows the need for Congress to take their constitutional duty seriously and authorize military force against ISIS.

Cruz said, “It is long past the time for Congress to debate and authorize military force against ISIS. ISIS is the face of evil. ISIS poses a clear danger to U.S. national security.”

Wednesday at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, Secretary of State John Kerry said he was in “utter disbelief” over the letter from 47 Senate Republicans to the leaders of Iran, saying, “This letter ignores more than two centuries of precedent in the conduct of American foreign policy.”
