Watch: Penn St Prof Arrested at MIA After Yelling About ‘War on Venezuela,’ Smoking Cigarette on Plane

A video posted to YouTube on Sunday shows a woman on an airplane en route from Managua, Nicaragua to Miami who appears to be Karen Halnon, a 52-year-old associate professor of sociology at Penn State-Abington, engaging in a rant about a war on Venezuela, in which she mentions her “great hero Hugo Chavez” and commends him for nationalizing oil.

“The United States has declared war on Venezuela! The United States has declared war on Venezuela!” she said.

Halnon continued her rant, even as she was about to be arrested when the plane arrived at Miami International Airport. Halnon’s bond was set at $500 and she has since posted it.

Another video posted by the same YouTube user showed Halnon smoking a cigarette while on board the plane.
