Police: ‘Crude Explosive Device’ Found After Monday Riots in Baltimore

On Wednesday, Baltimore ABC affiliate WMAR’s investigative reporter Brian Kuebler reported that police sources and the Baltimore PD confirmed that a “crude explosive device” was found by police on Monday.

Kuebler said the device was “charcoal and a small propane tank, the ones you kind of use for camping, in a plastic bottle, which was then lit on fire.” He added that “police assume this was to be some sort of time device, that those who put it together were hoping for it to burn and smolder for a while before it blew up.”

Thankfully, the device failed to explode and did not cause any harm, but according to Kuebler, the police are now warning officers that weapons such as this one could be used against them.
