Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday to address the Kurdish forces that are willing to fight ISIS, saying that the U.S. needs to arm the Kurds to assist in fighting the terrorist group because ISIS continues to grow.
According to Gabbard, after speaking with a Sunni tribal leader, the Kurds are “literally begging” to help fight ISIS to protect their families and territories.
“You have the solution. You’ve got the Kurds and Sunni tribesmen who are literally begging — I met with a Sunni tribal leader in Washington, they are begging for arms, heavy weapons, ammunition, to be able fight against ISIS to protect their families and tribal lands and their territories, but still to this point, both the U.S. and the central Iraqi government is failing to provide that, and therefore ISIS continues to be able to grow.”
