Pataki: I Can Beat Hillary By Appealing To More Than GOP Base

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s  “America’s Newsroom,” newly announced Republican presidential candidate George Pataki, who won the governorship in New York state three times, said he is uniquely qualified to go up against Hillary and win by appealing to not only the Republican base, “but to independents, conservative-democrats, minority groups, young voters.”

Pataki said, “I know I have the ability to lead this country. I know I have the ability to win this election and believe the need to change Washington has never been greater.”

He continued, “I can win the election and that one of the reasons I am running. In the last two elections we had, the Republicans had good candidates who could not win. We need to appeal to the Republican base, yes, but to independents, conservative-democrats, minority groups, young voters. I have been able to do that. I did that in New York. You know in seventy years only two Republicans have been elected governor of New York state Nelson Rockefeller and me, and we dont have quite the same background. So I know I can put together the coalition, the ideas, the vision for this country,  not to just run this race but to win and defeat Hillary Clinton.”
