While speaking with comedian and actor Judah Friedland on her MSNBC show “Now with Alex Wagner,” host Alex Wagner reacted to a report that the U.S. Women’s National Team earned $2 million for winning the World Cup compared to the Germany Men’s National Team, who earned $35 million for winning the 2014 World Cup.

Wagner called the money difference, as well as the fact that the women were forced to play on turf against their wishes part of a “scandal.”

“You have to lend more support and one of the ways you can support women is by having them play on adequate fields. This is another part of what I’m calling the scandal. The fact if the women’s team was made to play on artificial turf; they wanted to play on grass and the turf they were playing on seems it was not really necessarily game ready.”
