Pelosi on Obama Training 60 Rebels: ‘I Appreciate the Candor,’ Unlike Bush

Thursday at her weekly briefing, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said it was a “surprising number” when reacting to Tuesday’s testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee by Defense Secretary Ash Carter saying that a $500 million program has thus far only trained 60 moderate Syrian rebels.

Pelosi said, “But it was, I think, a surprising number. I appreciate his candor because for such a long time in the Iraq war during the Bush years, we were told so many more thousands, tens of thousands of people were being trained and it was a very small percentage of that.”
