WH Denies Secret Iran Deals, Mocks Cotton

Thursday at the White House press briefing, White House press secretary Josh Earnest addressed concerns brought to light by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) about the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA)  nuclear agreement with Iran on how inspections will proceed and said there was no side or secret agreement and added that Cotton, who he mocked as a “the international man of mystery,”  is simply referring to material published on the IAEA’s website.

Holding up papers, Earnest said, “This is the road map for the clarification of past and present outstanding issues regarding Iran’s nuclear program that is put out by the IAEA. This is actually a document that appeared on the IAEA website a few weeks ago.  This is the document that Tom Cotton, the Republican international man of mystery, discovered when he traveled to Vienna.”

Answering the claims of the administration’s critics that the IAEA Iran agreement is either a side agreement or a secret agreement, Earnest said, “The fact is, it is neither.”
