WATCH: Gripping New Trailer for Chilean Mining Drama ‘The 33’

Warner Bros. unveiled the first trailer for Chilean mining drama The 33 this week.

The film tells the story of the 33 miners who became trapped underground for 69 days after a gold and copper mine collapsed in Copiapó, Chile in 2010.

The 33 stars Antonio Banderas, Rodrigo Santoro, James Brolin, Juliette Binoche, Gabriel Byrne and Lou Diamond Philips.

Patricia Riggen (Under the Same Moon, Girl in Progress) directs off a script by Mikko Alanne (5 Days of War), Craig Borten (Dallas Buyers Club) and Jose Rivera (On the Road).

The film is based on the 2014 book Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of 33 Men Buried in a Chilean Mine, and the Miracle That Set Them Free, by Hector Tobar.
