O’Reilly on Push for More Gun Control: ‘Laws Cannot Stop Madness’

During his opening “Talking Points Memo” segment on Monday, Bill O’Reilly, host of Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor” sounded off on the renewed push for more gun control in the wake of last week’s shooting in Oregon.

O’Reilly questioned the wisdom of added regulation on guns as being a cure-all for this problem, which is something some have suggested in recent days. The Fox News host accused those, in particular Democrats and Hillary Clinton, of demagoguing the issue.

“If someone commits a crime using a gun and is convicted, they should receive a mandatory five years in a federal penitentiary on top of the punishment for the other crime,” he said. “That would go a long way in stopping the abuse of guns, would it not?”

“But laws cannot stop madness,” O’Reilly added.
