Chaffetz: I Won’t Run Against Paul Ryan for Speaker

Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) told reporters on Friday that he “would not run against [Rep.] Paul Ryan (R-WI)” for speaker.

Chaffetz stated, “I would not run against Paul Ryan. Let me try to be clear as I can, if Paul Ryan gets in the race, I’m a huge fan of Paul Ryan, I would support Paul Ryan, I would hope that he would do it.”

Chaffetz did point out that Ryan has “consistently said that he won’t,” and the party needs someone who wants the job. He added that Ryan is, “the most qualified person to do it, and I’d hope he’d do it.”
