SNL Blasts GOP Candidates: ‘The Presidency Should Not be an Open Call’

During the “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday’s broadcast of “Saturday Night Live,” hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che blasted GOP leaders Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump, as well as Carly Fiorina.

Jost said that the argument that Trump and Carson are “outsiders” in the political world, which “sounds amazing,” but said that is not a practical argument in any profession, while Che said that the presidency should not just be an “open call.”

“We get that Trump and Carson are outsiders and that sounds exciting, but when do you ever really want an outsider? If you need your laptop fixed, you’re not going to be like, ‘Let’s get someone outside the world of computers, someone who can crack it open and just start ripping out wires,” Jost began.

“The presidency should not be an open call,” said Che.

Jost continued, “Also, no more failing up to president, okay? Look at Carly Fiorina. She got fired from running a company, so she thought, ‘I know, I’ll be a senator.’ Then she lost for senate and she was like, ‘I hear ya loud and clear. President!'”
