Paul: Rubio, Schumer Made ‘Secret Deal’ to Block Conservatives on Immigration

Thursday at Pizza Ranch in Altoona, IA, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said his opponent Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) made a “secret deal”  on immigration reform to block “conservative ideas.”

Paul said, “What I have objected to with Marco is that he has blocked all conservative ideas. There was basically a secret deal between Marco and Chuck Schumer to exclude all conservative amendments on the immigration bill. I had an amendment called ‘trust but verify.’ Rubio opposed it and my amendment would have said that Congress votes every year on whether the border is more secure … When Marco got together with Schumer to block all amendments, I really knew the fix was in.”
