Krauthammer: Obama Lacks a ‘Modicum of Urgency,’ ‘Modicum of Commitment’ on Defeating Islamic State

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer criticized the way in which President Barack Obama is handling the war on terror.

According to Krauthammer, Obama lacks the will to win the against radical ideologies committed to terrorism, something he has demonstrated since coming into office in 2009.

“We just learned today that we would not flatten the oil facilities of ISIS because it would harm the environment,” Krauthammer said. “We’re not asking a lot of the president. We’re simply asking what the French president has, for a modicum of urgency, a modicum of commitment, and it has never been there. And it isn’t there now, and it’s not going to happen between now and the day he leaves office. He came into office determined to abolish the war on terror.”

Krauthammer said Obama has failed to recognized what is required end the conflict, which cannot be done with his will alone.

“As if like King Cnut, he could order the war to stop unilaterally on his own,” he added. “Wars end when either one side is defeated or the other side stops. The other side is not stopping. Under Obama’s tenure, al Qaeda, which is sort of international terrorism, jihadist terrorism, has expanded to a point where a branch, ISIS is essentially a branch, is the largest training camp of terrorism in the history of the world. It’s the size of the U.K.”
