Watch: Levitating Cars Mystery in China Solved

Surveillance video at a Chinese intersection captured what looked like two vans running into an invisible wall and being blown backwards.

The video caused “levitating cars” to trend on Facebook, with people wondering what could make those cars levitate with one of them eventually overturning.

Well, it turns out that a fallen cable wire had gotten tangled up in the street sweeper visible to the right side of the screen, creating a tripwire at the busy intersection. The video is of such poor quality that the wire cannot be seen.

“I was driving slowly straight ahead,” a driver of the van said of the incident. “All of a sudden, I was lifted up. The street cleaner car snagged on the wire. The wire just so happened to be underneath our car and it sent us flying.”
