Alter: If Trump Wins ‘Religious’ Iowa, He Will Have a ‘Real Head of Steam for the Nomination’

Tuesday on Bloomberg’s “With All Due Respect” broadcasted on MSNBC, network regular Jonathan Alter, author of “The Center Holds,” said if Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, wins Iowa, which he described as a very religious state, his campaign will indeed have a “real head of steam for the nomination.”

Alter said, “I don’t think third means anything in Iowa. There’s very little connection, historically, between Iowa and New Hampshire, anyway. The people in New Hampshire don’t give a rat’s patootie about what happens in Iowa. They never have.”

He continued, “If Trump wins Iowa—in a state that is very religious—in those Republican caucuses, he doesn’t—everybody knows he doesn’t have a religious bone in his body. You know, people know this about Donald Trump. If they vote for him anyway, in those caucuses, I think he has a real head of steam for the nomination.”
