Ben Carson: ‘Certainly Would Sit Down and Discuss’ Possibility of Being Donald Trump’s Running Mate

Tuesday on Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson told host Neil Cavuto he would be open to the possibility of being GOP front-runner Donald Trump’s running mate if the opportunity were presented.

Carson currently trails behind Trump and others in the race. He explained that being a running mate would require him to have a “major philosophical alignment” with the top of the ticket and would have to be guaranteed the opportunity to do “some substantial things.”

Partial transcript as follows:

CAVUTO: Would you be ever open to a VP slot?

CARSON: I would have to have major philosophical alignment with whoever it was.

CAVUTO: Donald Trump?

CARSON: I would have to have guarantees that I could do some substantial things.

CAVUTO: So with Donald Trump, who we might get what we deserve, to your point. He gets it. If he gets it, would you entertain being on the ticket with him?

CARSON:  I certainly would sit down and discuss it.

Carson would not say who he would not being will to be on the ticket with if given the same opportunity.
