Clift: ‘Lot of Hypocrisy’ on Trade Issue, Including From Obama, ‘Suspicion’ Hillary Would Evolve on TPP If Elected

The Daily Beast’s Eleanor Clift stated that there’s “a lot hypocrisy” on trade, including from President Obama, and there’s “suspicion” that Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would “evolve” on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) if she became president on Friday’s “McLaughlin Group.”

Clift said, “There’s a lot of hypocrisy on this issue. In ’08, Barack Obama said that he would renegotiate NAFTA when he got into the White House, never went near it. And I think there’s a lot of suspicion that Hillary Clinton, while she is opposed to the TPP, for the moment, if she should become the president, you know, she might evolve on that particular issue.”
