Obama: LGBT Students Are Vulnerable And Must Be Protected

Monday from the White House, in an interview with BuzzFeed News when asked about the legal battle between the Department of Justice and North Carolina’s Gov. Pat McCrory over the so called bathroom law, President Barack Obama said LGBT students are vulnerable and must be protected.

Obama said, “Well first of all, on the merits, on the issue itself, we’re talking about kids. Anybody who has been in school, been in high school, who has been a parent I think should realize that kids who are sometimes in the minority, kids who have a different sexual orientation or are transgender are subject to a lot of bullying, potentially. They are vulnerable. And I think it’s part of our obligation as a society to make sure everybody is treated fairly and our kids are all loved, and that they are protected, and that their dignity is affirmed.”
