Flashback — Hillary in 2008: ‘You Should Be Willing To Debate Anytime, Anywhere’

On Monday, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton announced she would not participate in a debate with Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) before the upcoming California primary.

However, eight years ago on this date, Clinton argued for a debate “anytime, anywhere” in the middle of her bid for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination against then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).

“Honestly, I just believe this is the most important job in the world. It’s the toughest job in the world. You should be willing to campaign for every vote. You should be willing to debate anytime, anywhere,” Clinton said on May 23, 2008 in a meeting with the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board.
