Gohmert: Trump Wrong on Third Party — Bernie Sanders as Third-Party Nominee Needed

Wednesday on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) argued that someone running in the upcoming presidential election on as a third-party independent wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing for Republicans.

Gohmert argued that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was wrong about the need for a third-party candidate and suggested Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) should fill the role.

“[I] do disagree with Donald Trump in his saying we don’t need a third party because I think we desperately need a third party because Bernie Sanders has been jerked around. He needs to have the nomination from the third party and be the third party’s nominee. He’d be great.’

Bartiromo replied by asking, “Wouldn’t a third party take votes away from Donald Trump and the Republicans?”

“Not if it’s Bernie Sanders, no,” Gohmert answered.
