Halperin: Trump’s Attacks on a Mexican-American Judge ‘Not Racial’ Because ‘Mexican Is Not a Race’

On Friday’s broadcast of “With All Due Respect” on MSNBC, Bloomberg TV’s Mark Halperin argued that presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s pushback on Mexican-American U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is residing over civil fraud lawsuits against Trump University are “not racial.”

Bloomberg Politics managing editor John Heilemann said that Trump is playing “pure racial politics,” which Halperin said is not true because “Mexico’s not a race.”

Halperin added, “It’s certainly racially-tinged. I was just making the point that Mexican is not a race.”
