Gingrich: ‘The Country Will Become Enraged’ if the Violent Anti-Trump Protests Continue

In a “Fox News Sunday” interview this weekend, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich predicted things could get ugly if the violent protests at GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s rallies continue on into this fall.

“The country will become enraged,” Gingrich said.

“I think when people see the American flag being burned, they don’t side with the people burning the American flag. I think it drives Hillary and Sanders in a very narrow box. This is 1968 all over again,” he continued. “This is the hard left saying, if you don’t do what we want, we’re going to be physically violent and we’re going to pick on some woman who can’t defend herself. I don’t think that is sustainable and I think the American people will be repulsed by the idea that the hard left wants to dictate to the rest of us.”
