Krauthammer: GOP Has to Ask ‘Morally, Is This the Man You Want to Be the Leader of Your Party?’

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer criticized presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for his criticism of U.S. Federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is presiding over the Trump University lawsuits, and for doubling down on those attacks after receiving backlash for those attacks.

“He doubled down,” Krauthammer said. “He widened the net of sort of not-Americans, or people who are not impartial because of their ethnicity to now include Muslims.”

Krauthammer suggested Republicans might rethink their support of Trump given those remarks.

“[T]he larger point is he’s revealing who he is,” he added. “It is not just that those who have now decided to throw in and support him for party unity or whatever reasons and made a tactical mistake in getting behind him; they have to ask themselves, morally, is this the man you want to be the leader of your party? But that’s what’s at stake now, that’s why it’s a bigger issue.”
